The Tellico Village Bocce Club celebrated an exciting milestone with its first official membership meeting, and the evening exceeded expectations.
A total of 38 members and future members attended the kickoff meeting, demonstrating the growing enthusiasm for bocce in Tellico Village. The room was filled with energy as attendees learned about the club’s mission, current activities, league plans, and long-range vision for expanding the sport within the community.
The presentation highlighted the club’s accomplishments to date, including the establishment of an interim Board of Directors, the development of the club’s website, the launch of league play, and ongoing efforts to become an officially recognized nonprofit organization. Members also learned about plans to improve the Chota bocce courts, expand league opportunities, and work toward a future multi-court bocce complex.
One of the highlights of the evening was the outstanding participation from those in attendance. Members asked thoughtful questions, shared ideas, and offered suggestions that will help shape the club as it continues to grow. The positive interaction reinforced what has become one of the club’s guiding principles—that the Tellico Village Bocce Club is about much more than the game itself. It’s about building friendships, creating opportunities to socialize, and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.
Following the presentation, many attendees stayed to mingle, meet fellow members, and continue conversations over light snacks and bottled water. The informal social time provided a wonderful opportunity for new and existing members to get acquainted and begin building the friendships that make community clubs so successful.
The overwhelmingly positive response from the evening confirmed that bocce has found an enthusiastic home in Tellico Village. With growing membership, expanding league play, and exciting plans for the future, the club is off to a fantastic start.
