Who knew a little bocce could cause this much excitement?
The Tellico Village Bocce Club has just wrapped up its second season of league play—and what a ride it has been! This was only our second season of play in our inaugural year, but the club has already grown into one of the fastest-growing activities in the Village.
When we kicked off our first season, we had just 12 players. Today, we have more than 80 members! That’s a lot of people discovering that tossing a few balls down a court can lead to some pretty fun competition, plenty of laughs, and a whole bunch of new friendships.
And Then There Were Two…
On the league side, the season produced an unusual result. Thanks to everyone’s favorite opponent—Mother Nature—rainouts left us with an uneven number of games and no opportunity to make them all up.
This season featured some impressive performances,and we have two season winners to recognize— The Bocce Babes finished with the highest winning percentage at 67%, while the High Rollers led the league in total victories with an impressive 18 wins.
Let’s just say both teams have earned bragging rights until next season!
More Than Just a Game!
While keeping score is part of the fun, the real success of the club has been what happens between the lines. Neighbors have met neighbors, friendships have developed, and a simple game of bocce has become another way for residents to get outside and enjoy the incredible community we call home. And judging by our growth we’re pretty sure we’re onto something.
Fall Is Coming!
But don’t put those bocce balls away just yet!
Our Fall Season begins in early October, and we’re looking forward to another season of competition, camaraderie, and—if we’re lucky, a little less rain.
Whether you’re already a bocce veteran or you’ve never picked up a bocce ball, we’d love to have you join us! We are still looking for a few team members and substitutes.
